Overview

With the convening of the BRICS meeting and the China-Africa Forum, China and African countries have frequently seen bright spots in the cultural field. Under the background of the two rounds of Sino-African economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, films are used to write stories about China-Africa cooperation. The important function of making Chinese sound is becoming increasingly prominent.
The China-Africa International Film Festival, under the guidance and support of the State Administration of Press, publication, Radio, Film and Television and the State Film Administration of the Central propaganda Department, is co-founded by the China Central Radio and Television Center, the Beijing Film Academy and the Global wide area Media Group.
The first China-Africa International Film Festival, which was successfully held in Cape Town, South Africa, in October 2017, is actively exploring ways to promote a faster film industry between China and Africa. New models and methods for better development. Attracted from China, African countries, Europe and the United States and other global senior filmmakers and representatives of many well-known film companies to participate in the event.

Under the guidance and support of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, China-Africa International Film Festival (CAIFF) is sponsored by China Radio International and the Beijing Film Academy, organized by Global Max Media Group in partnership with the Cape Town International Film Market and Festival. As a newly-established international film festival, CAIFF gives priority to Chinese and African film markets, expanding to surrounding regions to exhibit, praise and promote outstanding Chinese and African films. Set in the period of Cape Town International Film Festival, CAIFF takes the responsibility to recommend high-qualified films to the former so as to spread Chinese films in African and international markets, which raises reputation for Chinese films. CAIFF aims at broadcasting film culture in China and Africa, increasing the films’ influence and enhancing the exchanges of culture and art, particularly the film art.

The Organizing Committee of CAIFF will integrate superior resources and break down barriers of film exchanges between China and Africa through the platform of CAIFF. Meanwhile, it will encourage respective and cooperative film-making, promoting competitive products and facilitating films to enter into both sides’ markets, thereby stimulating the progress of their film-making, technical innovation, industrial development and brand building and uplifting the level of China-Africa film culture exchange. We hope this event will show African audiences splendid Chinese films and deliver cultural heritage, moral principles, value beliefs, aesthetic tastes and humanistic care behind the films. What’s more, it is to reveal the value community and manifest China-Africa folk friendship. Besides, the Festival is expected to be an annual brand event to be conducted in October, therefore forming a brand effect. CAIFF is conducive to building up a platform for popularizing Chinese films and creating a cultural card in Africa.
